Quick Guide
Misano Word Circuit nestles on the coast of Northern Italy, and the event has possibly the longest title of any international sporting event: Gran Premo di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini.
The circuit was originally built in the late 60’s, and named ‘Circuito Internazionale Santamonica’, and hosted motorcycle grands prix through the ’80s and early ’90s, before being dropped from the calendar after Wayne Rainey’s career-ending crash. The circuit was massively modified in 2005, including reversing the original direction of the lap, and introducing modern safety safeguards such as gravel traps and some experimentation with tarmac run-off areas, found to be of mixed benefit by the riders in 2007.
