Quick Guide
The oldest track on the calendar, the World Championship has been coming here since it started in 1949 - when the riders pushed their bikes off the start line. Always held on the last Saturday in June, the event has a certain mystique about it and as a result it has gained the nickname of “The Cathederal” of motorcycle racing.
The track is now thoroughly modern, and recent changes have removed much of the character of the place - the circuit was originally formed from public roads and so had camber. Now, the only section retaining anything like this is Ramshoek, the final piece left of the original track. Gone is the challenge, it’s just another MotoGP circuit now.
Circuit length: 4.555 km.
Circuit width: 14m.
Corners: 17, 11 right-handers and 6 left-handers.
MotoGP race distance: 26 laps.
